What we cover

Every plan type.
The right order for each.

"QDRO" is the famous one, but federal, military, and state plans each require their own kind of order. We draft whichever yours needs — in all 50 states.

Child & spousal support QDROs

A QDRO can collect support straight from a retirement plan — not just divide property.

Recover confirmed arrears, plus accrued interest
Capture ongoing support payments
Recover authorized attorney's fees and costs where allowed

QDRO

401(k)s & defined contribution

The most common case — an account balance divided by percentage or dollar amount.

401(k) / 401(a) 403(b) 457(b) Profit sharing ESOP TIAA / CREF

We handle the details that get generic orders rejected: gains and losses to the division date, outstanding plan loans, and each recordkeeper's own model language — Fidelity, Empower, Alight, Vanguard, Merrill, Voya and more.

QDRO

Pensions & defined benefit

A monthly benefit divided over time — the orders with the most ways to go wrong.

Traditional pensions Cash balance Money purchase Multiemployer / union

We draft both separate-interest and shared-interest orders and address the decisions that matter for life: survivor benefits, early-retirement subsidies, and cost-of-living adjustments.

Not a QDRO — special orders

Federal, military & state

Government plans follow their own rules and reject standard QDROs — we draft the order each system actually requires.

Federal TSP — divided by a Retirement Benefits Court Order (RBCO), not a QDRO.
CSRS / FERS — federal civilian pensions use a Court Order Acceptable for Processing (COAP) through OPM.
Military retirement — divided under the USFSPA, with its own rules on direct pay, disposable pay, and survivor benefit elections.
State & municipal — systems like Texas TRS, ERS, and TMRS each mandate their own model order; we conform to it.
